La Shonda, the youngest is a student at the University of Tulsa and her dream is to someday have a Day Care Center and entice her Mom to come and help her there.

In her spare time at home Stella likes to sew clothes – you may even have seen her at the sewing machine here mending something for a resident. Also she likes to cook anything, always willing to try different things. She says that she’s doesn’t like to travel, “I’m just not a traveling woman. I never liked to go long distances.”

Stella was one of 14 children and if you ever had any doubt of whether 13 was a lucky or unlucky number just remember that Stella was the 13th child and she sure seems to have turned out all right!

Paula Sampson, who’s worked here longer than anyone else, and knew both Stella’s sisters and also her children says, “They are every last one as sweet as Stella and were good, dedicated employees and very caring of the residents.

Several residents said that they don’t know how they would ever get along without Stella and one called her, “My angel”. Father Norris added, “She is an example for all of us of the whole philosophy of Saint Simeon’s.”

How appropriate that Stella was one of our “Shining Stars” (outstanding employee of the month) since the name Stella actually means star. Some might even say Stella and St. Simeon’s were a match made in Heaven.
