Saint Simeon's Auxiliary News

Auxiliary representatives, Paula Owens and Karen Garren, introduced the Tree of Dreams program to the Saint Simeon's staff at the staff's May 23rd STAR (Special Things Are Recognized) meeting.

Paula Owens provided an overview of the program and the Auxiliary's desire to help brighten the lives of the residents. Request cards and drop boxes will placed at each nurses station, in Assisted Living (Paula Sampson's office) and at Adult Day Services by Friday, May 30. Residents, family, friends and staff are encouraged to use the request cards to let us know of resident dreams and wishes. Auxiliary volunteers and friends will fulfill the dreams in the best way possible.

Regular monthly meetings will not be held in June and July but the work of the Auxiliary is non-stop. The Ice Cream Social, chaired by Marge Lund and Pody Bost is scheduled for Thursday, June 26th at 7:00 p.m. (See advertisement on page 7). In addition, Karen Garren, Auxiliary President, will be working to fill all the committee positions during the month of June.

If you would like to serve on an Auxiliary committee, please call Karen Garren at 747-1725. You can choose to help with one or more of the following committees: Fall Cookout, Residents' Tree Trimming Parties, Residents' Christmas Party, and Educational Programs. Also, if you would like to join Karen, Judy Lawson, Paula Owens and Betty Rheingans as Ice Cream Parlor volunteers, please contact Stephen Mason at 425-3583, ext. 237 for details.

The Library Project received a big boost with a wonderful $500 donation from Gayle Eby. This donation, along with other donations and book sale proceeds, will be used to purchase new materials. The resident surveys have been completed and Judy Lawson has compiled the results. The residents' areas of interest are varied but historical fiction, mysteries, biographies, history and art were all very popular choices. Large print books were also identified as a big need. A big thank you to Judy, Dr. Reece Boone and Karen for their outstanding efforts!

Ice Cream Parlor Visit

Saint Dunstan's Episcopal Church, led by volunteer Susan Adams, will be treating patrons of the Ice Cream Parlor on Saturday, June 21st from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A big thank you to Susan, Father Doherty and the parishioners of St. Dunstan's. We appreciate you!

Quote of the Month

“If a June night could talk, it would probably boast it invented romance.”
