--The Residents of St. Simeon's Episcopal Home contribute to this page.

Please look at the line at the top of this page. You can believe what you “read in the paper” - at least in this one!! Today this whole page is written by one resident. She has had experience writing for church newspapers and promises to be a regular contributor.

Meet Doris Brown. She writes:

I have a soft dog named Scooter. Attached to him are sundry necessary items. Every once in a while (actually quite often) he falls on the floor and hits the call button. In no time, of course, an aide appears to answer the call for no real need.

I then write a note of apology for him: “Scooter jumped again. He's sorry. Arf! Arf! Woof! Woof!” We both enjoy the chuckle and smile from the aide.

p.s. Scooter is a quiet, well behaved dog. He's just part of that generation which wasn't taught to write letters of apology or thank you notes!

Do you ever watch “Animal Planet” on television enjoying seeing pet dogs who love their owners? Their loyalty and trust make the lives of their owners happy and fun. The little puppies are so cute and are cuddled lovingly.

But what about a pet snake and its owner? A snake so big it takes four men to carry it into an animal clinic for an exam by a veterinarian.

And how does one know when a snake is sick? (The owner on television was very anxious about him!) Dogs, cats, - even monkeys are all cuddled!! But did you ever see anyone kiss a snake?

Do You Know the Flag?

  1. How many stars are on the flag?

  2. How many white stripes?

  3. How many red stripes?

  4. What does it mean when the flag is flown upside down?

  5. What is the legal way to destroy an old flag?

  6. When is the flag flown halfway?

  7. When the flag is raised in the morning, when should it be taken down?

  8. How many stars in the design of the first flag?

  9. Is it true that a flag should never touch the ground?

  10. What is recited when the flag is raised in a ceremony?
