“Here has been dawning another new day. Think! - Wilt thou let it slip useless away?”
Remember when we used to memorize inspiring poetry in school? So here it is hanging in my head more than 50 years later! Now I find it more daunting than inspiring and the scrooge in me mutters “Why not?” - E.E.H.
By the time you read this Paula Sampson will have retired. She has been on St. Simeon's staff for almost thirty-five years!
Long-time residents and Auxiliary members can remember when she was head of our kitchen. She has worn many “hats” since then - usually several of them simultaneously. Her patience, always-pleasant manner and willingness to help residents are all reasons for our gratitude.
Drop her a note to share a memory if you can.
"Without the caring and expertise nurses bring to patient care, lives would be in serious jeopardy, as would the entire American health care system."

My cool treat in hot weather is beef broth frozen in an ice cube tray. Ta-da! Dogsicles!

Library Festival
No one had ever gone to a library and found such a crowd too big to even get through! Well, that was true Wednesday, August 13 to celebrate the re-opening of the Resident's Library.
It all came about due to Dr. Reece Boone bringing the need to update the library and members of the Auxiliary's Library committee devoting many hours to the project.
Over 825 books were donated by Nan and Marwin Kemp. Betty and Bishop Cox also permitted some of his religious reference materials to be placed in the library.
The books are shelved with a card on the top shelf indicating the subject in that section.
Judy Lawson, Library Committee Chairperson, explained how to check out a book and return it - a simple method: sign your name and the date the book is taken out; when returned, note the date and put the book in the basket on the hearth.
Everyone is welcome to use the library at all times.
The air of excitement in the crowd truly made it a festival!
May I Help You?
Monday, July 28, was a surprise for everyone in the Health Care Center. A group of students preparing to be aides were present for the day.
They accompanied aides and were efficient helpers as well as being friendly to the residents.
Exceptional aides will surely be licensed from the visiting group.
Those taking part in the program were from the Interim Training Center supervised by Ronda. They were: Michael, Louise, Mike and Teresa.
Surely everyone in the Health Care Center was grateful for the students' help and willingness to do what was requested of them.
Our thanks to each one of them and Ronda for arranging an enjoyable day for the students who were very much appreciated.
