Saint Simeon's Auxiliary News

Residents, families and friends that attended the 2nd annual Fall Cookout had a great time. A big thank you to co-chairs Kevin Murray and Lou Anne Harris for all of their efforts. John Southern entertained the crowd with his guitar and excellent voice. Kevin Murray grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. Lou Anne Harris, Glenna Robinson and other volunteers did a great job with the decorations. And the weather was beautiful so everyone could enjoy the City View patio area.

The Auxiliary program committees continue to do excellent work. The Tree of Dreams committee, chaired by Paula Owens, is meeting monthly to make arrangements to fulfill each wish or dream submitted by or for residents. A resident's wish to go on a trip to the new Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks has been fulfilled and many other residents enjoyed the trip as well. The Auxiliary helped to fund this outing.

The Education Committee, chaired by Kathy Hinkle is identifying topics that will help educate families and residents and investigating possible speakers for this coming year.

Jack Ward, chair of the Landscape Enrichment committee, and other members and volunteers have worked very hard the past several weeks. Jack and others have volunteered their time and gardening talents to help beautify the grounds. The Auxiliary helped purchase some pansies and bulbs that Jack and the volunteers planted. Jack complimented the maintenance staff for all of their hard work and assistance.

The Residents' Christmas Party committee, consisting of Ruth Boone, Mary Lou Driskill, Joanne Sellers and Judy Lawson, are making plans for this year's parties. Watch for details in the December issue of the Quill.
The Residents' Library committee, led by chair Judy Lawson, continues their outstanding efforts. See Dr. Reece Boone's article in this issue of the Quill for the latest.

Rosanne Pasco, Ice Cream Parlor Parish Visits chair, would appreciate hearing from areas churches. She is seeking a small group of volunteers from each church-only one Sunday during the year from each church -to bring treats and smiling faces to the Ice Cream Parlor. Call Rosanne at 582-4128 if you want to serve.

Quote of the Month

“Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting, and autumn a mosaic of them all.”
