Saint Simeon's Auxiliary News

The Residents' Christmas Party plans have been finalized. (See Advertisement on page 7). A big thank you to Ruth Boone, Mary Lou Driskill, Joanne Sellers, Judy Lawson, Glenna Robinson and Karen Garren for planning this years parties.

The Auxiliary continues to add new Large Print books to the Residents' Library. The best news is that the library is being very well used. The book sign-out sheet indicates that books are being checked out daily by the residents and families. One recent visitor to the Home who is considering moving here was duly impressed by the large selection and variety of books available. If you have not stopped by the library please do so. Judy Lawson and her committee have done and continue to do an incredible job.

Church commitments to visit the Ice Cream Parlor are starting to fill up. Rosanne Pasco, Ice Cream Parlor Parish Visits chair, has confirmed visits from Trinity in February led by Linda Broach; St. John's in March led by Caron Lawhorn; and, Church of the Good Shepherd in April led by Talva Lacey. Thank you, ladies and volunteers!

St. Peter's Church, led by Susan Foust, provided the treats and musical entertainment for Ice Cream Parlor patrons on November 9th. Thank you, St. Peter's and Susan!!

Rosanne would appreciate hearing from other area churches for May through the rest of the year. Again, she is seeking a small group of volunteers to bring treats and smiling faces to the Ice Cream Parlor one Sunday during the year. Call Rosanne at 582-4128 if you want to serve.

SPEED ALERT!

If you have not visited the Home in the last six months or so you may not be aware that the Tisdale Parkway (the expressway to our front door) is undergoing improvements. The speed limit through the construction zone is 40 MPH and the police are being VERY strict. Fines of $250 to $300 are being issued. OUCH! So, please be alert and keep your speed at 40 or below up to 36th Street. The City of Tulsa needs money but we would rather they receive it through the sales tax and not speeding fines from visitors to the Home. Happy Holidays!

Quote of the Month

“Christmas is the season for kindling the fire of hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart."

-- Washington Irving
