"Our Home Is Built On Love"
Thank you for considering joining Saint Simeon's family. Our
loving and professional staff understands there may be many reasons why you and
your family are considering a change in your living accommodations. The process of
examining your options and finding a new home that is best for you can be both
exciting and challenging.
Please know that we want to help you better evaluate your desires
and needs - and those of your family members.
Residents and families alike have said that Saint Simeon’s has a loving and
special spirit that you feel when you walk in the door. This unique spirit is very difficult to capture in written and picture form.
However, in this section of the website through text and pictures we will try to
give you an overall sense of our services and programs. More importantly, we want to communicate
to you the many benefits that Saint Simeon’s offers families who choose to call
Saint Simeon’s home.
Mission — A Living Vision and Dream
Saint Simeon’s mission is to be the preferred home
for those who wish to live their later years in an environment with the highest
attainable level of independence, dignity and individuality.
This mission has stood the test of time.
Dr. Edward Eckel, then Rector of Trinity
Episcopal Church in Tulsa, and the Episcopal Church Women of Oklahoma founded
Saint Simeon’s Episcopal Home in 1960 as a not-for-profit, charitable
organization. Their vision, to create a
retirement community where men and women of all faiths could live independently
and with dignity, continues to be fulfilled.
Resident Centered Care is at
the heart of the Saint Simeon’s management and service philosophy.
Resident Centered Care sustains and supports
your freedom to choose. Choose how you
want to decorate your apartment; the entrees and side dishes you want to enjoy
at each meal; the educational and social opportunities you want to share in;
and, the types of personal services you want to receive. These quality of life choices are examples of
the freedom you have at Saint Simeon’s – freedom of choice that lets you enjoy
life to the fullest.
Because of Saint Simeon’s host of generous donors
and commitment to set the standard in long-term health care, we are able and
willing to provide more hours of care per resident per day and invest more
resources in resident care than the standard for-profit facility. We are diligent in our efforts to meet and
exceed certification standards. Join the
Saint Simeon’s family and experience the not-for-profit difference.
Unprecedented Medical Care and Life Enrichment Programs
Saint Simeon’s is dedicated to
providing superior care and life enrichment services for the physical, social
and spiritual well being of our residents.
Our superior care begins with the outstanding medical staff and
services.
Through a unique partnership
with the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and Dr. Insung Kim,
Saint Simeon’s Medical Director, Saint Simeon’s staff receives up to date
medical information and training. (Dr.
Kim is nationally recognized for her work in Geriatrics, including Alzheimer’s
disease and dementia.) The Saint Simeon’s
medical team is dedicated to making sure Saint Simeon’s residents receive the
highest quality of medical care available, whether they are under the care of Dr. Kim or their own physician of
choice.
Residents at Saint Simeon’s have
a variety of life enriching activities to choose from each day. The Life Enrichment department offers residents
opportunities to socialize in one-to-one activities as well as small and large
group activities. You can enjoy weekly
musical entertainment that ranges from a Philharmonic trio to a bluegrass band;
cocktail hour each Wednesday afternoon (alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are
served); plant seeds and nurture plants in the garden club; participate in book
review sessions; stretch those muscles in low-impact exercise classes; visit
special points of interest in the Tulsa area; attend plays, musicals, the horse
races or other community events; and, play dominoes, bingo or your favorite
card and board games. Educational,
entertainment, and social opportunities are available to you every day.
Meeting Spiritual Needs
Saint Simeon’s is blessed to have a full-time chaplain on staff and offers Sunday and Wednesday morning services
of Holy Communion for residents and their families. St. Anna’s Chapel is conveniently located on
the Saint Simeon’s grounds and the chapel doors are open for everyone. Whether you need or desire to participate in
a formal worship service or just need some quiet space to meditate, St. Anna’s
Chapel welcomes persons of all faiths. The chaplain is available to meet individually with residents and families
as needed. Saint Simeon’s receives
generous support from the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma and churches across the
State of Oklahoma. This special service is another important
factor in helping create a loving home environment that is so comforting and
nurturing.
