Saint Simeon’s Memory Center is a special care center for persons who suffer from Alzheimer’s or other forms of related dementias. The State of Oklahoma licenses the Memory Center and Saint Simeon’s. The Memory Center provides a loving, safe and comfortable home-like setting for our residents.

Residents are free to walk or roam throughout the 27,000 square-foot Center as well as the beautifully maintained Memory Center fenced courtyard. Residents are protected from inadvertently walking away from the Center by a continuous camera and infrared wander system security.

The Memory Center’s cutting edge design includes dividing the 27,000 square feet into six home units, which are connected by wide and well-lighted walking paths. The six home units surround a large common activity space that provides room for group activities and visiting entertainment. Each home unit consists of 5 to 7 bedrooms, a living room, dining area, and a nurse aide station that also is designed to look and function as a kitchen for supervised projects. The smaller home units allow residents to relax and enjoy their own quiet, private space. When appropriate, escorted residents visit other areas of the Home to participate in and enjoy music concerts, special entertainment, games, chapel services and other special events.

The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center serves as the Medical Director for the Center. The Center is supervised by a Registered Nurse and is staffed 24 hours a day by professionals who are specifically trained in caring for people with dementia. An Alzheimer’s Specialist directs structured daily programming.

There are private and semi-private suites available. Residents are encouraged to decorate their apartment with their own personal belongings. In addition, outside each room is a glass enclosed Memory Closet that allows residents and family members to place their favorite family pictures or other items that represent the resident’s life and interests.

The following are considered basic services for the Memory Center and are included in the daily rate:

• 24 hour staffing by medical professionals
• Continuous camera, infrared and Wander System security
• Wide, inviting enclosed walkways
• Secure courtyard areas with patios, gliders, individual seating and walking paths
• Individual care plans by a complete interdisciplinary team
• Full recreational and social activities seven days a week
• Chapel services and pastoral care
• All meals and dietary supplements
• Ice cream parlor (escort needed)
• Daily housekeeping services
• All laundry services
• Resident Council
• Family support groups
